Is my GLP-1 covered by the Medicare Bridge?

The Bridge covers exactly three brand-name medications at the $50 monthly copay — and the formulation matters more than most sites tell you. Pick yours and see where it stands. Free, no sign-up.

The three covered medications — and the fine print

Per CMS, the Bridge covers Wegovy (all formulations — injection pens at every dose including the higher-dose Wegovy HD, plus tablets), Zepbound in the KwikPen only, and Foundayo tablets, when prescribed for weight reduction or maintenance. Fills are limited to 28- or 30-day supplies, and the $50 copay doesn't count toward your Part D deductible or the $2,100 annual out-of-pocket cap.

The Zepbound rule trips people up the most: vials and single-dose pens — the forms most self-pay patients get through LillyDirect — are not covered. The medication qualifies; the packaging doesn't. If you take Zepbound vials today, ask your clinician about moving to the KwikPen as part of the Bridge conversation.

Taking a diabetes GLP-1? Different lane entirely

Ozempic, Rybelsus, Mounjaro, Trulicity, and Victoza are approved for type 2 diabetes, so they're outside the Bridge — and if you have type 2 diabetes, your regular Part D plan is where GLP-1 coverage happens (it generally covers these drugs for diabetes already). The Bridge exists specifically for weight reduction and maintenance, the use Medicare never covered before. More detail: does Medicare cover Ozempic?

Compounded versions: not covered, but not disqualifying

Compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide aren't covered — the Bridge is brand-name only. The good news for the many people who've been buying compounded versions out of pocket: per CMS's June 2026 FAQ, self-pay history does not disqualify you. Only a GLP-1 paid for by your Part D plan during 2026 routes you out of the program. Moving from a ~$200/month compounded product to brand-name Wegovy or Zepbound at $50 is exactly the switch the Bridge was designed to enable.

Frequently asked questions

Which drugs does the Bridge cover?

Wegovy (all formulations including tablets and Wegovy HD), Zepbound (KwikPen only), and Foundayo (tablets), for weight reduction and maintenance. Only 28- or 30-day fills.

Is Ozempic covered?

No — Ozempic is a diabetes medication and isn't in the Bridge. Part D plans generally cover it for type 2 diabetes. For weight loss, the Bridge covers Wegovy, Zepbound (KwikPen), and Foundayo.

I take Zepbound vials — am I out of luck?

No, but the form has to change. The Bridge covers Zepbound only in the KwikPen. Ask your clinician about switching as part of the Bridge discussion.

Does "covered" mean I qualify?

No. Coverage of the drug and your eligibility are separate questions. Eligibility depends on published CMS criteria — Part D enrollment, BMI pathways, and exclusions. The free screener shows how your answers line up.

Next step: your drug being covered is half the answer — the other half is whether you match the published criteria. The free screener takes about 3 minutes and writes your doctor message for you. No sign-up required.
